Fourth suspect arrested in Colorado torture case

JEFFERSON COUNTY Colo. (KKTV) – A fourth person faces charges in a kidnapping and torture case being investigated in Colorado.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office first alerted the public to the case on September 18. At that time, three people were in custody charged with attempted first-degree murder. The alleged crime occurred at a home in the 4700 block of South Oak Court on September 15. The neighborhood is just south of Harriman Lake, near W. Quincy Avenue and S. Kipling Street. The victim claimed to have been tied up and tortured for approximately 14 hours. He was allegedly whipped, beaten and burned.

“An uninvolved person who was in the home was eventually able to help the victim get out and take him to the hospital,” the sheriff’s office wrote in a news release.

On Wednesday, the sheriff’s office announced it had found a fourth suspect at a Denver pizzeria. Jimmy Ray Smith II was arrested Monday and is charged with attempted 1st degree murder, 2nd degree kidnapping, 2nd degree assault and felony gun violence. As of Wednesday morning, he was being held on $500,000 cash-only bail and is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday.

The other suspects are Jason Carlson, Sherell Allen and Luke Anaya. All suspects are charged with attempted murder and kidnapping.
