Damage caused by Hurricane Helene leads to cancellation of seafood festival

CEDAR KEY, Fla. (WCJB) – An annual festival in Cedar Key is now canceled after the island was devastated by Hurricane Helene.

In a social media post, Cedar Key Lion’s Club officials announced the cancellation of the 54th annual Cedar Key Lions Seafood Festival due to Helen’s damage to town infrastructure.

In the past, the festival celebrated the town’s fishing heritage by hosting a weekend of local food vendors, arts and crafts exhibits, live music and a parade.
