Amanda Bynes announces new fashion collaboration in latest career update – 14 years after retiring from acting

Amanda Bynes has revealed her latest venture is a fashion collaboration.

The former child star, 38, shared via Instagram on Wednesday that she had worked with fashion designer Austin Babbitt – also known as A**pizza – on a number of original designs.

Bynes said she and Babbitt were “working on a pop-up art show in December” and that it would “contain art and clothing” in a statement to People.

The retired actress shared a sneak peek of the collaboration on her Instagram Stories, writing, “My Associate of Arts degree specializing in product development at FIDM paid off.”

Among the pieces was a T-shirt with a drawing of a woman, selling for $60 on Babbitt’s website.

There were also shorts with black and red graphics, selling for $100.

She then posted one of her artworks – featuring a crying woman with a star earring and the words “You broke my heart” – writing: “I could do an art exhibition during the holidays…”

The image appeared to be a self-portrait, as the woman had a heart-shaped tattoo under one of her eyes, just like Amanda.

The former Hollywood star graduated from the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising (FIDM) in California in 2019.

She previously hinted that she would create her own fashion collection, announcing her plans to her followers after graduating from FIDM.

“Sup, Instagram. I just wanted to say hello to all my subscribers; I really wanted to say thank you so much for supporting me. I’m really looking forward to launching my clothing line and I hope that in the near future it will be available online,” she shared at the time.

Her previous project was a podcast with her friend Paul Sieminski called “Amanda Bynes & Paul Sieminski: The Podcast.” She announced it in November 2023

However, after posting just one episode with tattoo artist Dahlia Moth, Bynes said in December that the podcast would be suspended.

“So even though the podcast is doing great and the response has been great, I’m going to be taking a break for now,” she shared via Instagram at the time.

“We’re not able to get the type of guests that I would like on the show, like Jack Harlow, Drake or Post Malone. So maybe one day, if we can get that guy of guests on the show, we will resume the podcast But for now, I’m taking a break,” she explained.

In October 2022, she revealed that she was attending cosmetology school to become a manicurist.

However, last April, Amanda explained that she failed to pass the board exam to obtain her manicure license despite various attempts.

Her new fashion collaboration comes 14 years after Bynes retired from acting due to mental health and substance abuse issues.

The California-born star started in the industry at the age of seven and went on to become one of the biggest child actors of his generation.

She went on to become queen of teen romantic comedies, starring in a number of hit films, including She’s the Man, alongside Channing Tatum, in 2006.

In 2010, she declared on Twitter – at the age of 24 – that she would retire, writing that “being an actress isn’t as fun as it seems.”

The retirement was short-lived, and Bynes returned to work a few weeks later, announcing that she would star in the 2010 film Easy A, alongside Emma Stone and Penn Badgley.

However, heHis career took a hit after a drunk driving arrest in 2012, which resulted in him being charged with two counts of hit-and-run.

And her troubles didn’t stop there as the following year, the actress was placed under conservatorship for nine years – following an ongoing battle with mental health and substance abuse issues.

In 2019, Bynes checked into a mental health facility following a relapse.

The former child star had been planning a return to Hollywood in 2018, and the decision contributed to her relapse, it was reported at the time.

In 2022, Bynes’ nine-year conservatorship ended, after a judge ruled the legal arrangement was “no longer necessary.”

In 2023, she was placed on psychiatric hold after being found naked and alone on the streets of downtown Los Angeles in the early hours of the morning.
