‘Blue Bloods’ Series Finale Date Revealed After Show’s Star Says Cancellation ‘Makes No Sense’

Unfortunately for that Blue Bloods fans, there are only a few episodes left in the show’s 14th and final season. CBS has finally revealed the air date for the show’s series finale and a special surprise for longtime viewers, which comes after several cast members expressed dissatisfaction in the network’s decision to cancel the series.

In addition to the final episode, which is sure to be a real tearjerker, CBS will air the special Blue Bloods: Celebrating a Family Legacyon Friday, November 29 at 9 p.m. The special episode looks back at the show’s 293 episodes and is hosted by Entertainment tonight‘S Nischelle Turner.

“The special serves as a love letter to the loyal fans who dined with the Reagan family every Friday night and upheld BLUE BLOODS as one of the top shows on television,” a CBS press release said.

The one-hour commemorative special will feature exclusive interviews with the show’s cast and guest stars, as well as behind-the-scenes moments from the program.

“Included in the show is a rare glimpse into the famous family dinner scene, where viewers learn the secrets of the family dinner straight from the Reagans’ table,” the press release said. “The special reveals new details about the first time the cast had a family dinner during the pilot when they were strangers, and how that transformed the series into the global phenomenon it is today.”

“Fans will also hear firsthand from the cast what it’s like to film on the streets of New York City and get a sneak peek at the emotional finale before the series airs,” the press release said.

For those who were still hoping that another network would pick up the show or that CBS would come to its senses and renew the show for season 15, it looks like that won’t happen.

“I don’t quite understand…? But it is what it is,” said cast member Bridget Moynahanwho plays Erin Regan in the series TVLine Spotlight on November 8 from the end of the series.

“I mean, we have incredible ratings… and there’s a loyal fan base that would make time to watch it on a Friday night, or make time over the weekend,” she explained. “There’s a younger generation coming in that appreciates the great stories, but also the good values.”

That’s what she said Blue Bloods going off the air will leave a “void” on TV. “It’s hard to find those values ​​in stories on television right now,” Bridget continued.

The Sex and the city alum teased what’s to come in the show’s final episode.

“I think fans will be somewhat satisfied… but then you’ll want more,” she said. “There are those nuggets where people will say, ‘Yes!!!’ And then the show is over. It will be bittersweet in some ways.”

Several of her other costars said the same thing about the episode is very emotional and having some “sad” moments. Cast member Len Cariou said the cancellation “makes no sense” in a November 1 interview with TV insider. But at least the series gets the proper look it deserves.
