JD Vance says Trump won the 2020 election, but won’t say he’ll admit defeat

After refusing to answer questions about it during the debate Tuesday night, Republican vice presidential nominee Sen. JD Vance (R-Ohio) falsely claimed Thursday that Donald Trump won the 2020 election, and declined to say whether he “I will accept a loss.

Trump’s running mate, who has supported the Republican presidential candidate’s election conspiracy theories in the past, continued to do so when Jason Selvig of The Good Liars, a political comedy duo, asked him if he believed in Trump’s repeatedly debunked claims that President Joe Biden stole the election from him.

“Did Donald Trump win the 2020 election? » Selvig asked Vance.

“Yes,” Vance replied. When Selvig repeated the question, Vance answered “yes” in the affirmative.

Selvig then asked Vance if he would concede if Vice President Kamala Harris, the Democrats’ nominee for president, received more votes than the Trump campaign. Vance refused to answer.

“I feel really bad for you, man,” Vance told Selvig after repeating the question.

Since his recent debate against Democratic vice presidential candidate Tim Walz, Vance has faced pressure to speak out on Trump’s election conspiracy theories. On stage, Walz asked Vance if he still believed Trump was the true winner of the 2020 election, alluding to comments Vance made earlier this year questioning the election results and saying Trump should ignore the “illegitimate” decisions of the United States Supreme Court on the issue.

“Tim, I’m focused on the future,” Vance responded before turning to attack Harris.

Walz quickly called him.

“It’s a damning non-answer,” he said. “I’m quite shocked by this. (Trump) lost the election. This is not a debate. This doesn’t happen anywhere other than in Donald Trump’s world.”

When a reporter asked Vance the next day why he dodged the question, he accused the press of being hyper-focused on the issue.

“The media is obsessed with talking about the election from four years ago,” Vance responded, adding, “I’m focused on the election in 33 days because I want to remove Kamala Harris from office and return to political common sense.

Vance’s insistence that the media drop the subject stands in stark contrast to messages from Trump, who still regularly brings up his beliefs about the 2020 election at his rallies.
