A source told People in August 2024 that Lopez felt “upset and disappointed” in Affleck. “It really hit her hard,” the source noted.

In October 2024, another source claimed that Lopez was ready to move on with her life after Affleck. A source told Life & Style that “friends and family have noticed a major change” in Lopez’s attitude. “She decided to do some soul-searching – she says four divorces will be enough. Get ready for a whole new J.Lo – she wants to start a new chapter.

The source added that Lopez felt “overprotective” of Affleck and his history of alcoholism, adding tension to their romance. “It backfired by making him resentful, adding even more stress to their marriage,” the insider noted. “Now Ben is panicking. He’s afraid she’ll share too much and make him seem like the bad guy in the relationship.

Ben Affleck reportedly tried to make their divorce ‘as clean as possible’

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck put their children first in their marriage and want to make sure their children are unaffected as much as possible. In mid-September 2024, Affleck and Lopez took their children to brunch at the Polo Lounge at the Beverly Hills Hotel. “They didn’t have a prenup, which complicates matters, and what’s at stake are the assets they acquired together during their marriage: the $60 million home they listed for $68 million and the production company Artists Equity Ben created with Matt Damon two years ago, in which Jennifer also has a stake,” said an insider.

Lopez also reportedly “wanted to recoup her investment” in their mansion, as she invested a lot of money in the initial purchase and renovations. The Beverly Hills property remains on the market for $68 million.
