Motorcycle crashes on Central Avenue during a road safety meeting

A motorcycle crashed on Central Avenue in Colonie early Wednesday evening.

The accident happened near the intersection with Marjorie Road.

The lanes in that area were closed for some time, but have now reopened.

It is not yet clear what the cause of the accident was and whether anyone was injured.

This was at least the second accident on Central Avenue on Wednesday.

A 72-year-old man was struck by a car near the Dunkin’ Donuts on King Avenue earlier today.

This all comes on the same night that a meeting was held at the Midway Fire Department to discuss safety in that area, following dozens of fatal accidents.

The project aims to reshape the corridor, which carries 23,000 people between Schenectady and Albany every day. The research shows that there are very few marked crossings. There are also concerns about speeding and the safety of pedestrians and cyclists.
