Indian ticketing platform BookMyShow is considering the potential cancellation of tickets to Coldplay concerts that are sold in an “unethical” manner, it said on Friday, after a strong backlash over ticket sales for the highly anticipated concerts at more than $1,000 each.

“Our position remains clear and unchanged – BookMyShow vehemently condemns and opposes resale of tickets which is considered illegal and punishable by law in India. BookMyShow has no association with such ticket sales/resale platforms unauthorized and/or with third-party individuals/platforms for the purpose of reselling Coldplay’s 2025 Music Of The Spheres World Tour in India,” a company spokesperson said.

He added: “We remain vigilant in monitoring such cases of resale of tickets for this tour via black market channels and will continue to share all relevant information with the authorities to ensure appropriate action is taken. BookMyShow is evaluating the potential cancellation of these tickets which are currently on sale. sold-unethically.”.

Last month, the CEO of BookMyShow was summoned by Indian police along with the company’s technical manager, as part of an investigation into the alleged black market sale of the British group’s concert tickets.

The ticketing platform has also filed a first information report (FIR) in Mumbai against unknown scalpers.

BookMyShow has filed a complaint against an unknown person at Vile Parle police station in Mumbai, for black marketing of tickets for the Coldplay concert to be held in January 2025 at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.

In its complaint, BookMyShow said that when ticket sales began on September 22, they clearly stated that tickets should not be purchased from any third party. During this time, they received emails from two people asking them to reserve as many tickets as possible.
