Matt Gaetz ‘too sloppy’ to run the police state

president-elect Donald Trump shocked the political world on Wednesday with the announcement of Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) as his nominee for attorney general.

Democrats predictably panned the selection, but even among Republicans, the reaction to the news was mixed. Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME) she has already said is against Gaetz’s nomination. One House Republican responded to ask“Are you shitting on me?”

Gaetz is currently investigated by the House Ethics Committee over allegations of sexual misconduct, illegal drug use and other allegations. Last year, the Justice Department completed an investigation into the legislature and rejected to prosecute charges.

Appears on Wednesday’s episode of The battle on MSNBC, Atlantic Ocean writer David Frum ripped the Gaetz nomination and others Trump has made.

“There are two paths to a Trump presidency,” he said. “One is the path of successful, sinister consolidation of power for evil purposes… And then there is the path of chaos. Self-indulgent, bitter, childish, petty. And it seems to me that with these early choices he is choosing the path of chaos, not the path of consolidation.”

“When you say that, David Frum, do you think this is a different kind of problem for the opposition or the resistance, or is it better for the opposition?” host Arie Melber asked.

Frum responded by offering viewers some comfort.

If you were creating a fascist police state, you wouldn’t ask Matt Gaetz to run it,” he replied, causing Melber to chuckle.

“He’s too sloppy, too careless and too irresponsible,” Frum continued. “He’s not going to be at work on time every day and do the dirty work you expect him to do. He will have his own indulgences. He will be involved in scandals that are not relevant to the job.”
