Microsoft’s new Copilot wants to be your best AI friend

On this episode of The Vergecastwe try to make sense of this future. Everyone seems to believe in the potential of “agentic” AI, which can use apps and devices on your behalf, but most current technologies in this direction seem sadly unfinished. However, as they get warmer and fuzzier, maybe the whole “getting things done” aspect of AI doesn’t matter as much anymore. We’re trying to figure out where we’re going next and how long it will take to get there.

You know who else should determine where we go next? OpenAI, which just raised $6.6 billion and now needs to prove it can spend it wisely. We also talk about it for a while.
