Authorities investigate stalking incident on University of Arizona campus

TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) – Authorities are investigating a reported stalking incident on the University of Arizona campus.

The University of Arizona Police Department said it happened around 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 3, and the precise location is unknown.

The victim said she was on campus when a man approached her and offered her a ride. The suspect left, turned around and asked her again.

“At this time, it is unknown if this incident is related to previous similar cases around the main campus that UAPD informed the community about last month,” UAPD said in a statement.

In September, UAPD warned students about two men who were disturbing women on campus.

UAPD said Brad Wilkinson, 73, had a habit of offering women rides and following them everywhere. Wilkinson was banned from campus, but UAPD said he had previously ignored exclusion orders.

The second man was identified as 41-year-old Henry Yanez II. Yanez, who has a habit of causing problems for women on campuswas arrested in early August for stalking and assault.

The suspect in Thursday’s incident was described as a white man in his 60s or 70s. He has white hair and is bald with a beard and goatee.

He was last seen wearing a blue and white striped shirt and sunglasses. He was driving a white vehicle with a license plate beginning with “DN”.

There have been several violent incidents on or near the University of Arizona campus over the past month.

On September 3, there was a robbery near First and Warren.

On September 22, a fatal shooting occurred on the school’s sand volleyball courts.

On September 22, an armed robbery occurred near 9th Street and Third Avenue.

On September 26, there was a robbery near Park Avenue and 2nd Street.
