Construction worker dies after getting stuck while working on new house

BAXTER, Tenn. (WSMV/Gray News) – A construction worker in Tennessee died Wednesday after an accident occurred at a new home site.

Putnam County Sheriff Eddie Farris reports 41-year-old Joseph Kyle Lesko was part of a construction crew working on a new home near Maxwell Road when the accident happened.

Lesko was on the roof of the house where several rafters were temporarily held. Officials said one of the trusses fell, causing a domino effect of 20 or more. The worker eventually became trapped.

Putnam County authorities said Lesko was killed immediately.

“This was an accident that resulted in a sad and tragic loss of life in Putnam County. Rescue personnel responded immediately, but the weight and forces of the trusses were enormous and too great to overcome,” said Farris.

The incident is still under investigation.
