One Loud Voice Conference highlights the struggle of professionals against child abuse

BILOXI, Miss. (WLOX) – The people fighting for children’s rights gathered Wednesday in Biloxi for the 11th annual One Loud Voice conference.

This year’s Judge Thomas Broome Award winner is Assistant District Attorney Chris Daniel.

Daniel was recognized as a champion for children, such as chasing down pedophiles and obtaining over 40 convictions.

“At one point, a victim’s parents said he was their hero because of the way he responded in that case with such compassion and support for both the child and the family,” said Karli Tye, CEO of Mississippi Children’s Advocacy Centers.

“He is a champion who is always willing to raise his hand,” said Crosby Parker, Hancock, Harrison & Stone Counties District Attorneys.

Daniels has been an attorney for 22 years and has dedicated his career to protecting his family and children.

“When you close the sentencing case, you see that the child is free from the child abuse that he has suffered in many cases and that has continued for many years,” said Chris Daniel, assistant district attorney.

The award that Daniel won was renamed this year after Rankin County Youth Court Judge Thomas Broome, who passed away last year.

“He was a pioneer, he’s the one who started a lot of these things that we’re doing now and his legacy will continue,” Parker said.
