October is one of the busiest months of the year for the Johnson Center for the Arts in Pike County.

JCA Director Andrea Pack said: “The Dollar Bill-Sized Student Art exhibition opens October 11. County teachers submitted student artwork from area schools and programs.

“The student exhibit ‘Art the Size of a Dollar Bill’ is sponsored by Troy Bank and Trust and is one of the most popular exhibits at JCA,” Pack said.

On October 12, “Altered Book” with Rebekah Alexander will be at Second Saturday Studio from 10 a.m. to noon. Participants will have the opportunity to transform a book into a visual journal. All ages are welcome. The second Saturday event is free.

Chintia Kirana will present an artist talk on October 24. The time must be announced.

The Johnson Center for the Arts will close its exciting month of events on October 25 with a Members’ Masquerade Ball at the Studio.

“Formal attire and suits are welcome,” Pack said. “We will make masks; snacks and food items will be available for free and for purchase. A silent auction will feature cakes and food items, as well as seasonal paintings.

Pack said there will also be live music by a variety of artists. The Masked Ball will end with a dance.

The JCA invites everyone to come and discover why and how to support the Johnson Center in its mission. This event is free and open to the public.
