Parents have been indicted by the Cuyahoga County Grand Jury in the death of their 11-year-old ailing son

INDEPENDENCE, Ohio (WOIO) – A Cuyahoga Grand Jury has indicted John Towne and Ahhra Pugh in the death of their son Hunter Towne of Warren, Ohio, an 11-year-old boy who died at an Independence hotel in January.

He had a medical condition and was not properly cared for. The family lived in the hotel with six children and pets. According to the police, the circumstances are ‘deplorable’.

According to the police incident report, officers were called to the Extended Stay America Premier Suites Cleveland Independence on Jefferson Drive on Jan. 10 for a report of a deceased juvenile. When they arrived, they found Hunter lying on a bed near a window.

Police were told Hunter had suffered from Hirschsprung’s disease and other health problems since birth and had been ill in recent days.

Police said five other children and two pets lived in the room, but they left before police arrived.

Children and Family Services were called due to the conditions in the room.

The parents were charged with murder, involuntary manslaughter, two counts of child endangerment, assault and several other charges.
