Doctors, the hit BBC series, has honored the late Timothy West as fans prepare to say goodbye to the series, which airs its final episode on Thursday, November 14.

The esteemed actor passed away ‘peacefully in his sleep’ on Tuesday, November 12, and his final television appearance came in an episode of the series on Wednesday, November 13. BBC A daytime drama that is coming to an end after 24 years.

On Wednesday, a heartfelt message from the official X account of ‘Doctors’ was shared: “The Doctors family is deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Timothy West.”

“His final on-screen appearance in today’s Doctors episode is a moving reminder of his incredible talent, and it was an honor to have him with us.

“We extend our sincere condolences to his family and friends.”

In Wednesday’s moving episode, West portrayed Artie Simkins, a character who faces an emergency when his neighbor falls in their yard.

While “Doctors” pays tribute to West, it also reflects on his own legacy.

Doctor star Chris Walker, who has played police officer Rob Hollins since 2009, recently expressed his sadness over the cancellation of the beloved daytime drama after its two-decade run, describing the decision as a disheartening loss for the entertainment world.

Speaking to TV Times magazine, he confessed: “I was – and to some extent still am – a bit sad, which may sound dramatic.”

Walker shared his partner Sharon’s insight into the emotional impact: “My other half, Sharon, said to me, ‘It wasn’t just a job, it became your identity,’ and it’s very sad to lose that.”

Reflecting on the strong bonds that have formed, he added: “And to not be with all the wonderful people who have become great friends.”

Despite the adversity, Walker acknowledges the transient nature of things, noting, “But life goes on.”

He concluded with an understanding comment on the broadcaster’s decision: ‘Nothing is forever and the BBC have made their choice, and that’s how it is.”
