YSRCP leader and associates arrested in POCSO case

Police on Thursday arrested a sarpanch, a YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) leader from a village in Kosigi mandal, and two of his associates for allegedly trying to sexually assault a minor girl.

According to police, suspect D. Boya Usaini entered the girl’s house while his associates Boya Vinod and Boya Majjiga Surya Narayana stood guard outside. Usaini woke the girl up from her sleep and forced her to come with him. When the girl raised the alarm, her grandfather woke up and Usaini and the two others fled the house.

The girl’s parents have migrated to Karnataka for work and she is staying with her grandfather. After informing her parents, the girl filed a complaint with the police on November 11. A case under the POCSO Act, 2012 and BNS was registered against the suspect following which the trio disappeared. The three suspects were arrested on November 13 (Wednesday) near Urukunda Arch in Kosigi and produced in court on Thursday.
