Robbie Williams Appears as a Monkey in ‘Better Man’ Biopic Trailer

Better person looks like a traditional biopic, except for one important thing

The first trailer for the Robbie Williams film Better person has arrived and opens with a message from the pop legend: “This is my story. But I’m not going to tell it in a normal way, because I don’t see myself how others see me.”

And Williams wasn’t lying about the unusual part: he appears as a monkey (yes, a real monkey) in the movie. The singer lends his vocals to the film and is voiced and motion-captured by actor Jonno Davies.

The trailer shows Williams on full display as a monkey, rocking a packed festival crowd as he cheekily notes, “To be honest, I’ve always been a little less evolved. So let’s look at it from above, okay.”

The clip then chronicles the life and times of Williams, including his childhood, when he joined British pop group Take That, and the trials and tribulations he faced throughout his career. “I’m going to be fucking famous!” he says at one point.

At one point in the documentary he asks wearily, “Do I look like a pop star?” His mother tells him she “wouldn’t change a hair” on his head. The moment has an added effect when Williams is depicted as a monkey.

“I want to prove that I can make it on my own,” he adds at another point in the clip.

Better person will open in select theaters over Christmas and open nationwide on January 17, 2025.
