Murder suspect arrested in Kentucky

FRANKFORT, Ky. (WKYT) – Kentucky State Police say Steven Girtley has been arrested in connection with a murder investigation in Franklin County.

Troopers say Girtley was found in a shed on his Franklin County property shortly before 1:30 a.m. Thursday. He was arrested and charged with one count of murder.

Police had been looking for Girtley since Saturday evening.

KSP says they responded to the area of Flat Creek Road in Franklin County on Saturday just before 10 p.m. to an altercation between Justin Girtley and Steven Girtley. When they arrived, police found Justin Girtley suffering from a gunshot wound. Police say Steven fled the home into a wooded area by the time troopers arrived.

Police say the two men are related.

The Franklin County Coroner pronounced 36-year-old Justin Girtley of Frankfort dead at the scene.
