22-year-old arrested after allegedly firing shots, wounding 1

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – A 22-year-old was arrested after allegedly shooting a victim in the leg with a handgun on Wednesday, according to arrest warrants.

Darius Antwain Lester, of Hepzibah, was arrested Wednesday, according to jail records.

Arrest warrants say around 11 a.m. in the 2000 block of Corning Street, Lester fired several shots from a handgun in the direction of three victims, striking one of them in the lower right leg area.

That victim was transported to Wellstar MCG for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries and is in stable condition, according to the affidavit.

According to the arrest warrant, Lester also punched the front of the victims’ home while they were there, hitting one of the victim’s cars.

According to the statement, the total amount of damages is not known.

Lester is charged with three counts of aggravated assault, three counts of possession of a firearm or knife during the commission of a crime and two counts of criminal damage to property in the first degree.

For Lester’s possession of firearms, bail was set at $7,900 each, according to jail bookings.

Records show that no deposit has been provided for the remaining costs.

According to bookings, Lester is being held in the Richmond County Jail.
