MONROE COUNTY, Tenn. (WVLT) – The wife of a man accused of a murder in Monroe County has been arrested, according to an arrest warrant obtained by WVLT News.

Nicholas Wayne Hamlett made headlines after he was accused of killing 34-year-old Steven Douglas Lloyd, making a fake 911 call claiming he was a distressed hiker and then fleeing the state.

Hamlett was taken into custody on Sunday and now we know his wife is also facing charges.

According to the warrant, Taylor Ann Fiber is accused of lying to police, saying Hamlett, who used a false identity, was the brother of the “walker” who called 911.

This was untrue, the warrant said, adding that she knew Hamlett’s true identity. The warrant also stated that Fiber purchased Hamlett a Greyhound bus ticket from Knoxville to Columbia, South Carolina, so he could flee the state.

In addition, officers also said Fiber had purchased camping gear for Hamlett while he was in hiding, and warned him that police were looking for him.

Since Hamlett’s arrest, there have not been many additional details. WVLT News spoke with Monroe County Sheriff Tommy Jones, who said Thursday that the agency is in the process of extraditing Hamlett from South Carolina, where he was arrested.
