Lawsuit filed by Catrela Perkins heads to arbitration

DECATUR, Ala. (WAF) – A widow who wants justice for the police shoot dead her husband sees forward movement in the process.

Catrela Perkins’ lawsuit against Allstar Recovery and two tow truck drivers is headed to arbitration.

A third party will make a final decision when the parties present the facts of the case.

The incident happened last September during a seizure of a truck outside Perkins’ home.

After a confrontation, the All-Star Recovery driver contacted Decatur police, which subsequently resulted in Perkins’ shooting death.

Catrela Perkins claims wrongful death, unfair debt collection practices and violation of her husband’s constitutional rights.

Mac Marquette, the former Decatur officer charged with murder in connection with Perkins’ death, will stand trial in April 2025.
His trial was originally scheduled to begin later this month but was postponed.
