Van crashes into Emeryville liquor store; driver injured

EMERYVILLE, California. – A driver was seriously injured Thursday after crashing into a liquor store Emeryvilleauthorities said.

The solo vehicle crash at Black & White Liquor Store, 4051 San Pablo Ave., was reported after 1 p.m.

Emeryville police said the victim, who was driving a van, may have suffered a medical emergency, based on witness statements. The exact cause of the crash is still under investigation.

“Multiple witnesses saw him stop at the light and then suddenly grab his motorcycle and crash into the building,” Officer Baylee Worthen said.

The driver was the only person injured.

“We have PG&E and the city building inspector on site because the building has been compromised,” Worthen said. “We don’t want to take that car away yet.”

The van also hit a traffic light pole.
