As part of his promotion for his upcoming Hulu documentary, “The Honorable Shyne,” Shyne reflected on the incident that led to his prison sentence while he was an artist under Diddy.

In 2001, the former Bad Boy rapper was sentenced to ten years in prison for his role in a 1999 New York nightclub incident involving Diddy. Surprisingly, his ex-boss walked free after initially being charged with gun possession and bribery.

Reflecting on the incident, Shyne claimed that the music mogul appointed him as the Fall Man. However, he has since let go of the grudge he once held against Diddy.

“I moved on and I healed,” Shyne said while appearing on the “Tamron Hall Show.” Billboard. “I didn’t see him shoot, but I know he made me take the fall. I know he has called witnesses to testify against me.”

When Shyne reunited with Diddy to perform “Bad Boyz” at the 2022 BET Awards, he didn’t really want to do it.

However, he chose to go through with it as a way to honor both hip-hop and Belize, the country he was deported to after serving most of his sentence.

Shyne has since embarked on a journey of redemption and now serves as Leader of the Opposition in the Belize House of Representatives.

“I didn’t want to do it, but he said, ‘Listen, this is about Belize. Imagine this platform,'” Shyne recalls.

During the performance, Diddy referred to Shyne as his brother – a statement that Shyne found ironic, as he felt his former boss had done the opposite of what a real brother would have done during the fallout from the 1999 New York nightclub shooting.

“I wish I was his brother in 2000 when we were on trial,” Shyne said sarcastically when his host asked about the comment. “I wish I was his brother for the past 26 years, while my mother, who is here with me, never got any help. He never helped dry her tears.”

Despite moving on, Shyne will never forget how Diddy was the one who seemingly derailed the life he once had.

“I have to keep putting into context, without spitting on anyone’s grave, that this is the person who destroyed my life,” Shyne told Hall. “You hear my mother, she’ll probably start crying if she gets on this couch. People ask, ‘Do you think he did those things?’ Well, I know what he did to my family, so the potential is there.”

Shyne had also shared similar sentiments in September when responding to Diddy’s arrest on charges of racketeering, sex trafficking and transportation to engage in prostitution.

“This is someone who has ruined my life,” Shyne told the media at the time Billboard. “And who I forgave and who I moved on from, and for the better interest of Belize, because he was in a position at the time to give scholarships and perhaps invest, I would not deny that I tried to bring the investment to Belize and contribute to education to Belize.”

In response to the series of interviews in which Shyne accused him of framing him, Diddy has dismissed the accusations as “unequivocally false.”

“Mr. Combs was acquitted of all charges related to the 1999 Club New York incident and has consistently maintained his innocence,” a representative for the embattled rapper said. TMZ. “He cannot accept or condone any characterization of his actions as ‘demonic’ or ‘evil’.”

Diddy also praised Shyne on his new career path as a politician, but insisted he was disappointed that his former label rapper chose to highlight a forgotten issue.

“It is unfortunate that Mr. Barrow has chosen to revisit these allegations,” the representative added. “Mr. Combs trusts that responsible journalism will weigh both established legal results and Mr. Combs’ positive, long-standing support for those with whom he has worked. .”

Diddy has been in the Brooklyn Metropolitan Detention Center after being arrested on September 16 following a grand jury indictment.

The rapper has been charged with sex trafficking, racketeering and transportation to engage in prostitution.

Since his arrest, his legal team has made multiple attempts to secure bail for the rapper. They recently filed a fourth bail motion, arguing that bail was granted in similar cases to Diddy’s defendants, and there was no reason his case should be handled differently.

His lawyers proposed a bail package similar to those previously offered in the rapper’s other bail attempts.

The package includes a $50 million bond and more restrictions on the rapper’s movements to prevent him from fleeing or interfering with the case, as feared by federal prosecutors.

A decision has yet to be made on this bail attempt, but given the precedent set by the other denials, it will likely be rejected.
