November is Suicide Survivorship Support Month and central Nebraska has resources to help

HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) – Central Nebraska has many resources for people affected by loss due to suicide, or for suicide survivors.

November is Suicide Survivorship Support Month, and groups want people to know they are not alone. These groups specialize primarily in helping survivors deal with grief and guilt.

One of those organizations is the Central Nebraska Local Outreach to Suicide Survivors, or LOSS Team.

“Organizations like Central Nebraska Local Outreach to Suicide Survivors are working on the post listings so that after losing someone to suicide, they can go out and support (them),” Friston said.

The LOSS team specializes in ensuring survivors know they are not alone. The team can even meet people at a place of their choosing to talk about what happened and steps to move forward.

“(It’s) an opportunity to know that they are not alone in their process,” Friston said.

If you or someone you know is suffering and needs emergency help, please call 988.

To contact the Central Nebraska LOSS Team, call 308-217-0359 or send them an email here. You can also find them at Facebook.

You can join the LOSS team on November 23, National Survivors of Suicide Day, at Penny Coffee Roasters in downtown Kearney.
