Twenty-year-old airlifted after serious traffic accident

STARKE, Fla. (WCJB) – A 20-year-old man was airlifted to a local emergency room in Bradford County after a serious traffic accident.

Thursday evening, a truck rolled over the CR100A overpass near mile marker three in Bradford County.

The vehicle rolled over the bypass and the driver, who suffered serious injuries, was airlifted to the HCA Florida Starke Emergency Room, according to Bradford County Sheriff Gordon Smith.

A Shands Care team is also on scene in the emergency room, ready to transfer the 20-year-old patient to UF Health Shands Hospital if necessary, Gordon said.

It is believed the driver was thrown from the vehicle because a bystander saw him on the ground, Gordon said.

His condition is currently unknown.

Drivers can expect delays and are urged to use US301 as an alternate route through Starke.
