The gas station attendant who was robbed at gunpoint is now charged with shooting at suspects

SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX/Gray News) – Police in Vermont say a gas station employee is facing charges after shooting at two teens involved in a convenience store robbery.

South Burlington police say Domonic Ali-Koarti, 34, was behind the counter at a Shell gas station on Williston Road last week when two juveniles robbed the store at gunpoint.

Investigators said Ali-Koarti told officers he handed the money to the suspects and followed them outside. He then saw two muzzle flashes and thought the robbers were shooting at him, so he pulled out his gun and fired several shots at them.

The youths told police they were trying to get away from the scene.

Authorities said Ali-Koarti is now charged with aggravated assault in the incident.

The minor suspects have been charged with assault and theft.
