Davenport West High School celebrates the completion of new athletic facilities

DAVENPORT, Iowa (KWQC) – The Davenport Community School District and Davenport West High School are celebrating the completion of new sports facilities.

The include improvements a renovation and remodel of the existing competitive gym with new bleachers, paint and refinishing of the room, new basketball backstops, volleyball and gymnasium dividing curtain, a renovation of the YMCA gym to dedicate one court to the school, a new wrestling room, with a two-mat room, a new strength and fitness room, new restrooms, a new gymnasium, a 500-seat spectator seating area, basketball and volleyball courts on competition format, as well as practice courts for basketball and volleyball, a renovated activity entrance and new screening and fencing for technology storage areas.

The training facilities were previously located in the school’s basement, but now students will have their own training rooms, which will help improve student practice times, school officials said.

This expansion is only a small part of Davenport’s long-term facilities planschool officials said.
