Suspect dead, two in custody after shooting in Phoenix involving DEA agents

PHOENIX (AZFamily) – One suspect is dead and two others are in custody Wednesday afternoon after a shooting involving Drug Enforcement Administration agents in west Phoenix.

It happened at the Walgreens near 43rd Avenue and McDowell Road around 4 p.m

The man who was shot was rushed to a nearby hospital but later died, officials confirmed Thursday evening.

At this time, few details are known about what led to the shooting, but the DEA said they were in the process of arresting the suspects when the gunshots rang out.

Two people are in custody, but it is not clear what charges they are facing.

Video from the scene showed federal agents on the scene and a heavily damaged SUV jumping the curb of the pharmacy parking lot.

The Arizona Department of Public Safety is investigating.
