A fiery accident leaves a man in the hospital in Glendale; Road closed

GLENDALE, AZ (AZFamily) – One man was seriously injured in a fiery crash that closed a major road in Glendale before rush hour Friday morning.

Two vehicles collided around 5 a.m Grand Avenue and Orangewood Avenuecausing one vehicle to catch fire. When emergency services arrived on scene, they found that the fire had been extinguished, but that the injured driver was trapped inside.

The Glendale Fire Department quickly removed the driver from his vehicle and rushed him to the hospital. However, the severity of his injuries is not known at this time.

The second driver was not injured.

Arizona’s Family news crews witnessed a small sedan sustain heavy damage, including a shattered windshield and charred marks from the flames.

Grand Ave will be closed in both directions between Myrtle Ave and Orangewood Ave for an extended period of time. Drivers are asked to avoid the area and use alternate routes.
