Man killed in crash on K68 highway near Ottawa

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Kan. (KCTV) – A 38-year-old man from Pomona, Kansas, was killed in a crash on the K68 Highway Thursday evening.

The Kansas Highway Patrol said Thomas Harmon was killed after hitting a car that was trying to turn off the highway.

Police said an 83-year-old Ottawa woman driving a 2001 Grand Marquis Mercury was making a turn from eastbound K68 onto Indiana Road. The woman failed to yield to Harmon, resulting in a crash that killed Harmon.

The 83-year-old woman, identified by KHP as Milda Caleb, was taken to a hospital with suspected serious injuries, as was a 53-year-old man who was in the car with her.

Authorities said the crash happened just after 4 p.m. Thursday at mile marker 20.6, about 4 miles west of Ottawa.
