Former Florissant officer makes first court appearance on charges of stealing nude photos during traffic stops

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) – A former Florissant police officer appeared before a judge for the first time after being accused of unlawfully searching the cellphones of 20 women for nude photos.

Julian Alcala, 29, was charged with one count of destroying documents in a federal investigation and 20 counts of deprivation of rights under the law, namely the right to be free from unreasonable searches and seizures.

The indictment accuses Alcala of searching 20 women’s cellphones between February 6, 2024 and May 18, 2024. Alcala seized their cellphones “under the auspices of confirming their insurance coverage or vehicle registration, searched the phones for nude photographs and took then took pictures of the photos with his personal cell phone,” the complaint alleges.

Alcala appeared in federal court for the first time on Friday. During the hearing, Alcala pleaded not guilty.

Alcala was released on a personal recognizance bond. Scott Rosenblum will represent him.

The defense has asked for 60 days to review the case. Judge Henry Autrey said that will be determined at a later date.
