Two youths have been arrested for stealing firearms from vehicles

DECATUR, Ala. (WAF) – Two youths were arrested after allegedly breaking into vehicles and stealing firearms.

Decatur police officials say several Decatur citizens have reported car burglaries where firearms were reported stolen.

Detectives from the Decatur Police Property Crimes Unit began an investigation.

During the investigation, two youths were identified as suspects with the assistance of the School Resource Officer Unit.

Two search warrants were executed at homes in Decatur. The stolen firearms were found during the searches.

Both juveniles were charged with prohibiting certain persons from possessing a firearm and two counts of burglary of a vehicle.

Both youths have been transferred to a juvenile detention facility.
