PanCare offers free dental care for veterans

PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) – PanCare, a nonprofit organization that provides affordable health care, held its annual event for veterans on Friday.

During PanCare’s annual event, they offered free dental services to local veterans.

The event has been going on for over ten years.

This year, Pancare officials said more than 90 veterans came to take advantage of the services.

Veterans received one of three services for free: cleaning, filling or extraction.

All of this is intended to help fill a gap in local veterinary dental coverage.

“Because we have so many veterans in the community that most of them, whether they have disabilities or receive medical care, don’t have dental care. Unfortunately, the VA doesn’t have a dentist near here, so they wouldn’t have this service if we didn’t have this for them every year. They have worked hard while employed, and this is our reward for them because we appreciate them so much,” said Katie Thorpe, director of dental operations.

In addition to dental services, PanCare also offered patients a free health exam upon request.
