Tamil Nadu: Petrol bomb hurled at cinema screening of 'Amaran' in Tirunelveli

TIRUNELVELI: A petrol bomb was hurled by unknown persons at a private theater in the early hours of Saturday. Tirunelveli where the film ‘Amaran’ is shown.
According to the police, two unknown persons threw a petrol bomb in front of them Alangar Cinemas at Melapalayam in Tirunelveli early Saturday morning. However, no one was injured as the building was vacant at the time. Police have recovered CCTV footage showing two people hurling the petrol bomb and are conducting further investigations to identify the perpetrators.
The Sivakarthikeyan starrer ‘Amaran’, which will be shown in the theatre, is a biographical adaptation of the life of Army Major Mukund Varadarajanwho was martyred during a military operation while on deputation with the 44th Rashtriya Rifles Battalion in Jammu and Kashmir and was posthumously awarded the Ashok chakra.
Police are investigating various angles, including whether the petrol bomb could have been hurled by miscreants who opposed the film.
