Prince William once enjoyed life on the road with friends in his twenties, but with the responsibility of becoming Prince of Wales (and having three children) life has changed a bit. However, on Thursday, November 14, the royal family got a taste of one of its old hobbies during a visit to the Ulster University campus in Belfast City in Northern Ireland.

The Prince of Wales jumped on a motorcycle while enjoying a virtual ride with green screen technology at the university and learning how the school is helping future creative leaders.

Per Hello!the future king looked excited and exclaimed, “Do you have any excuse to get on a motorcycle!” He even asked if someone could remove it from his platform, adding, “I feel like someone needs to put a real spin on this.”

The Prince of Wales seemed to be in a nostalgic mood for him driving daysper Hello!claiming, “I love that exhaust” and found his experience “incredibly realistic.” Motorcycling is unfortunately a hobby that Princess Kate once said “scared her to death” and William later gave it up.

“He still rides it,” the Princess of Wales said in 2015 about her husband’s bicycle use. People. “It always fills me with horror when he goes out. I’m terrified.”

Princess Kate added that she hoped Prince George wouldn’t take up the hobby, saying: “Hopefully I’m going to put George off it.” Prince William’s love for motorcycles also scared his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth, as royal expert James Whitaker once said (via the Emphatic), “I think it scares the people at Buckingham Palace and almost certainly the Queen.”

It seems their concerns worked, as in 2018 Prince William said (via People) that he would stop. “I am a father of three. I have to tone it down. I miss the big trips. For me, cycling has always been about being with everyone,” he said.

During his visit to the university, he also encountered two students who were late for a lecture due to security surrounding his visit. Fortunately, the women received a ‘royal pardon’ from the Prince of Wales recorded a TikTok for their professor.

“Lesley, I’m really sorry we’re late, but we caught up and they wouldn’t believe you were here, so just say hi,” he said with a smile as student Samantha Johnson and her friend looked on.

As for his motorcycle, perhaps Princess Kate can grant him a royal pardon in that regard.
