Karnataka: Mother-daughter duo accused of prostitution, dragged and attacked by neighbors in Belagavi – Karnataka News

A mother and daughter, aged 60 and 29, were attacked and their clothes torn by neighbors who barged into their house and accused them of prostitution in Belagavi in ​​Karnataka, police said.

According to the women’s complaint, several members of a neighboring family, including women, entered their home, dragged the duo outside and physically assaulted them.

The attackers accused the mother and daughter of exploiting prostitution and claimed that unrelated persons regularly visited their home, police added.

However, it is also alleged that despite repeated attempts, the police were reluctant to register their complaint and provide protection for two days.

An FIR was registered against three persons after the matter was escalated to the city police commissioner. The suspects have been charged under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

The police said they have started an investigation into the incident.
