The BBC breakfast crew were forced to intervene when Charlie Stayt was flustered by an awkward question

Charlie Stayt was bullied by his BBC Breakfast co-star Nina Warhurst on Saturday’s edition of the show when he was blindsided by a question about his job

BBC Breakfast’s Charlie Stayt found himself in an awkwardly hilarious on-air moment, prompting intervention from the studio crew after his co-presenter’s playful comment.

Saturday’s episode (November 16) saw Charlie reunited with co-host Nina Warhurst to present the day’s biggest stories.

An unexpected twist occurred just before a segment when Nina light-heartedly asked Charlie about his career prospects. She announced to the viewers: “It’s 12 minutes past 8, now if you’re looking for a new job.”

She then playfully grilled Charlie by asking, “Are you looking for a new job?” Unprepared for the question, Charlie fumbled and admitted, “I didn’t expect that.”

The banter caused Nina to burst out laughing. The awkwardness increased as a bewildered Charlie looked around the studio and begged weather presenter Simon for help, asking: “Um, I don’t know, Simon help me, am I looking for a new job?” OK!.

Simon replied calmly, “I didn’t hear Charlie, so just stay there.”

Nina pushed a little further and said, “I’m just putting it here, just in case.”

A disoriented Charlie, trying to recover and reaching for his phone, said, “Um, should I call someone?” At that point, the production team had to take quick action when voices off camera were heard saying, “Call your agent on the phone!”

This moment followed another slightly awkward incident when Naga Munchetty apologized for repeatedly interrupting an interviewee during Friday’s (November 15) meeting BBC Breakfast broadcast.

In the segment with Dr Tamzin Furtado, a University of Liverpool animal welfare expert, presenters Naga and Charlie delved deeper into the impact of fireworks on animals.

Naga struggled with coughing throughout the interview and continually expressed her apologies while Charlie smoothly took over the questioning. She was heard saying, “I’m so sorry, I’m so sorry,” amid her coughing fits.

After ending their conversation, Charlie thanked Dr. Furtado for her insights, adding, “Dr. Tamzin Furtado, thank you very much for speaking with us. Naga is going to get some water and we are going to exercise now.”

Naga took another chance to apologize before they continued.
