BREAKING: Defendant said ‘no problem’ as he was arrested for murdering Noel Campion in Limerick

A MAN covered his face with his hand in Limerick District Court on Saturday afternoon as he was charged with murder.

Darragh Quinlivan, aged 41, originally from the south side of Limerick city but who has lived in the Manchester area of ​​Great Britain for a number of years, appeared before a special hearing of the Limerick District Court.

Detective Sergeant Eoin McDonagh, Roxboro Road Garda Station, gave evidence of Mr Quinlivan’s arrest at Shannon Airport on Friday. Sergeant McDonagh said he told Mr Quinlivan he was arresting him in connection with the murder of Noel Campion.

Sergeant McDonagh said Mr Quinlivan replied: “no problem”.

The Detective Sergeant said Mr Quinlivan was taken to Henry Street Garda Station where he was charged with the murder of Noel Campion (pictured below) in Thomondgate at 7.15pm on April 26, 2007.

“He did not respond to the allegation after warning,” Sergeant McDonagh said.

Inspector Fergal Hanrahan, prosecuting, has made an application for Mr Quinlivan to be remanded in custody pending service of the evidence book.

Sarah Ryan, lawyer for Mr Quinlivan, has filed an application for disclosure and legal aid on behalf of her client before Judge Patricia Harney.

Judge Harney granted the requests and remanded Mr Quinlivan in custody to appear Limerick District Court via video link on November 19.

During the short procedural hearing there was a large garda presence in the courtroom, with a number of supervisors, inspectors, detectives and uniformed officers present.

Mr Quinlivan, wearing a black tracksuit with a white stripe, covered his face with the palm of his hand during the hearing.
