Two motorcyclists died in separate accidents in Chattogram

Two motorcyclists were killed in two separate highway accidents in Chattogram on Saturday.

The incidents took place on the Chattogram-Cox’s Bazar highway and the Chattogram-Khagrachari regional highway.

In the first accident, Mahfuzur Rahman, 29, was fatally hit by a covered van in Moulvir Dokan area of ​​Satkania upazila around 1pm, leaving him dead on the spot.

Mahfuzur, a representative of a cigarette distributor, was originally from Munshiganj district but had worked in the Satkania region.

Following the collision, Dohazari Highway Police seized the covered van, although the driver managed to flee the scene.

Shubo Ranjan Chakma, the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of the Dohazari Highway Police Station, confirmed: “The covered van has been seized and investigations are underway. Legal action is being taken to arrest the driver.”

The second accident took place near Baroyarhat Syed-Syeda High School in Fatikchari Upazila on the Chittagong-Khagrachari Regional Highway around 2 pm.

Syedul Anwar Babu, 23, was killed on the spot when his motorcycle collided head-on with a battery-operated auto-rickshaw.

Babu, a resident of Nazirhat Municipality, had recently returned from abroad.

Nazirhat Highway Police Station OC Md Shahabuddin said, “The victim died instantly on impact. The auto-rickshaw was seized but the driver managed to escape. We are taking legal action in the case.”
