Republican lawmakers Senator Katie Britt (R-AL) and Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL) have both publicly called that Trump would act as Rubio’s replacement in the Senate.

Trump has been co-chairman of the RNC since March. Rubio’s replacement, to be appointed by the governor of Florida. Ron DeSantis (R), would face a special election in 2026.
