Hurricanes place Seth Jarvis on injured reserve – The Hockey Writers – Hurricanes Transactions

The Carolina Hurricanes announced this on Saturday afternoon (November 16). Seth Jarvis has been placed on injured reserve (IR) retroactively to November 10. The young forward is dealing with an upper-body injury and missed his team’s previous two games against the Vegas Golden Knights and Utah Hockey Club. This move opens up a roster spot for Yaniv Perets to back up at goaltender tonight against the Ottawa Senators Pyotr Kochetkov out of order.

Jarvis, in his fourth season with the Hurricanes, has four goals and seven assists in 11 games this season. He played most of last season with a torn labrum and rotator cuff. He chose not to undergo surgery and chose to rehabilitate it naturally. It is not known if these injuries are related.

To be placed on IR you must be out of action for a total of seven days. Now that the move is retroactive to November 10, he can return to action tomorrow night against the St. Louis Blues.

Jarvis wants to play and could potentially play due to his injury, but head coach Rod Brind’Amour wants to be cautious this early in the season. “He wants to play” said Brind’Amour. ‘He’s old-fashioned in that respect, that’s for sure. You have to yank him out of the lineup a little bit. But like I said, hopefully that won’t last too long.”

The Hurricanes begin a back-to-back with the Ottawa Senators tonight at 7 p.m. and then close the season series against the St. Louis Blues on Sunday at 5 p.m. Both games will be at the Lenovo Center.
