The crash left one person dead and two seriously injured in Stafford County, police said

STAFFORD COUNTY, VA (DC News Now) – The Virginia State Police (VSP) said they are investigating after a two-vehicle crash early Saturday morning in Stafford County left one person dead and two others seriously injured.

VSP said troopers responded to a two-vehicle collision on southbound Interstate 95 at the 140-mile marker at about 4 a.m.

According to VSP, a Volvo SUV was traveling the wrong way when it collided head-on with a Chevrolet Sedan.

All southbound lanes were closed for approximately five hours while police investigated and cleared the scene.

The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) assisted with the road closures and detours.
