KING CRIMSON co-founder PETER SINFIELD dies at 80

Co-founder King Crimson roadie, lyricist, lighting operator and live sound engineer Peter Sinveld died at the age of 80. Sin field played with King Crimson between 1968 and 1972, after which he was fired by the founding guitarist Robert Fripp. Sinfield would go on to write lyrics for artists such as Emerson, Lake & Palmer, Cher, Celene Dionand much more. Sin field also found success in collaborating with composer and fellow songwriter Andy Hill.

The news of Sinfield’s dead comes from Frippwho partially wrote that Sin field was responsible for the naming King Crimson. In his closing paragraph said Fripp notes that he and Sinfield briefly worked together in 2014.

“In 2014, Fripp invited Sin field to provide an updated look at 21’s textst Century Schizoid Man, who renewed their partnership, albeit briefly and remotely, in line with Fripp’s mission to reimagine the music, and in this case the lyrics, for the new incarnation of King Crimson. A keen cook and gardener, living on the Suffolk coast in the town of Aldeburgh, famous for its international music festival, Peterhad been struggling with declining health for years.”
