The Shivajinagar police on Friday arrested a husband-wife duo for affixing a fake number plate on their two-wheeler to avoid paying a traffic fine pending against them for long. The couple had a fight with the traffic police after their arrest and prevented the police officers from discharging their duties, following which an FIR was lodged against them on November 15.

They were taken to the traffic department office, where the suspect caused a commotion and threatened the police with dire consequences, such as dismissing them from service. The police officers later took them into custody and a case was registered against them for unlawful conduct under Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) sections 221, 336(3), 338,340 (2), 351 (1) and 3(5).
