17-year-old charged in death of teen near St. Louis gas station

ST. LOUIS – A 17 year old was charged as a minor on Friday in connection with the death of another teen outside a St. Louis gas station earlier this month.

The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department has not released the identity of the 17-year-old, but says charges of first-degree murder, first-degree assault, armed criminal action, first-degree tampering and unlawful use of a weapon have been filed . in the juvenile court.

The victim, identified by St. Louis police as 15-year-old Jamar Hamilton of St. Louis County, was fatally shot overnight on Nov. 12 in the 8800 block of North Broadway in St. Louis’ Baden neighborhood.

Hamilton was found dead outside a gas station around 1:40 a.m. from gunshot wounds. Investigators say he was among a group of people exchanging gunfire with occupants of another vehicle.

The 17-year-old charged Friday was arrested Nov. 12 in connection with an unrelated incident, according to St. Louis police.
