‘Mass casualty incident’ after children, adults eat ‘toxic mushrooms’ in Pennsylvania | US News

A group of children and adults were taken to hospital in the US after ingesting “toxic mushrooms”, in what was described as a “mass casualty incident”.

Emergency Services in Peach Bottom Township, Pennsylvaniawere alerted after 11 people fell ill after ingesting the fungus on Friday.

They ate “toxic mushrooms and were all sick,” the Delta-Cardiff Volunteer Fire Company said.

It described the situation as a “mass casualty incident” and said emergency units were dispatched from several counties in the region.

Laura Taylor, Delta-Cardiff fire chief, said all adults and children were in stable condition after being taken to the hospital, local television station WPMT reported.

Peach Bottom Township is about 90 km southeast of Harrisburg, the state capital of Pennsylvania.
