CARSON – Authorities are seeking the public’s help in identifying the person responsible for a collision and collision that killed a 54-year-old woman in Carson.

Cherise Johnson was struck at the corner of Del Amo Boulevard and Tillman Avenue shortly after 6:05 p.m. on August 31 as she walked southbound at the intersection before being struck by a vehicle traveling west on Del Amo Boulevard, according to the Los Angeles Times . County Sheriff’s Department.

The Carson City Council voted unanimously on Nov. 6 to offer a $25,000 reward for information leading to the identification, arrest and conviction of the person responsible for Johnson’s death.

“We sympathize with the victim’s family and hope this reward will help expedite the identification, arrest and conviction of those who caused this tragedy,” Carson Mayor Lula Davis-Holmes said in a statement.

“This could have happened to anyone. I appeal to our entire Carson family. If anyone has information to assist the Carson’s Sheriff’s Station, please come forward.”

Sheriff’s officials said witnesses to the crash stated the vehicle was a white SUV.
