Somerset attempted arrest for murder after serious assault

A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following an assault that left another man with serious injuries.

Avon and Somerset Police were called just after 4pm BST on Thursday to the Boden Street car park in Chard, Somerset, following a report of a fight between two men.

A 30-year-old man was taken to hospital with serious injuries, which are not believed to be life-threatening, police said.

Officers arrested a 50-year-old man that night, and he remains in police custody.
