Cleveland Browns QB Deshaun Watson sends message after surgery

Cleveland Browns QB Deshaun Watson sends message after surgery

The Cleveland Browns last week lost starting quarterback Deshaun Watson for the rest of the season to a torn Achilles tendon.

Watson had started the 2024 season very slowly and fans were calling for him to be replaced. This injury gives Jameis Winston the opportunity to show what he is capable of.

Now Watson has officially undergone surgery to repair his Achilles tendon. He sent a message on social media to fans after surgery.

“Appreciate everyone for the prayers and love! More glory!” Watson posted

It will be interesting to see what the future holds for Watson with the Browns. Many believe the franchise will consider drafting one of the top quarterbacks in the 2025 NFL Draft.

Now that his season is over, Watson will complete his third year with Cleveland playing just seven games. He completed 63.4 percent of his pass attempts for 1,148 yards, five touchdowns and three interceptions. Watson also picked up 148 yards and a touchdown on the ground.

Obviously, these numbers weren’t close to what Watson or the Browns were hoping to see.

There’s no real reason to believe Watson can be a franchise quarterback for Cleveland. That’s not meant to come back to haunt Watson, it’s just the truth.

The same questions and observations were present in the 2024 season.

At 29, Watson still has two years left as a contact. That could lead to the Browns bringing in talent at other positions and waiting for a new quarterback. Perhaps Watson will get one more chance next season.

That said, it’s a disappointing way to end another disappointing season for Watson. His three years in Cleveland haven’t come close to what he planned.

Now his future with the Browns is in jeopardy and he won’t be able to get back on the field to try to finish the season strong.
